Some may recall the aged old scriptures that lie in Proverbs 31, well to me, these are some of the most influential scriptures that are in the bible. I have for years, hope to become, even a quarter of the woman that this scripture speaks of and I will continue to do so for the rest of my years on Earth. I will post it at the bottom for those interested in why its so captivating to me. But why am I posting on this, out of the randomness of the day?
Well, recently as some know, my husband’s Grandmother passed away. For a time it was sad, but then we were also happy for her, that her suffering had ended. She was now in eternal happiness, with Jesus in Heaven. We are sure that she is there, and that gives us comfort and peace. (Continue below by clicking)
I had a somber moment ( Think you’d call it that), yesterday. We took my kids to the funeral home to view Grandma’s body, and have a little privacy for the kids to see her for the first time. I was very nervous how it would go, and Gods peace was awesome. They didn’t get scared, and did very well. Thank you Lord for that!
Today the pastor of our church came over and visited with my Father in Law and just wanted to know more about his mother, to know of different things to mention at the funeral. I could hear some of the things he spoke of her, and it brought me to tears. Pastor asked what scriptures do you think of for her, and the first immidiate thing that came out of his mouth was that he had been praying on this and Proverbs 31, was her to a T. I teared up immidiately. Isn’t that the goal of a Christian woman after God’s own heart, to attain that title, a Woman of Virtue?
It was an honor to hear him speak the loving kind words he did about his mother, especially knowing in my heart, he truly means every word he said. I didn’t get the opportunity to know Grandma in her previous years, but I hear that she was the best wife, had a sweet submissive spirit, and a wonferful mother and grandmother. I loved her presence. There was a time when Avalyn had colic, and I remember her rocking her amidst her crying and singing hymns to her, it was sweet, I wish I had video taped it. Bittersweet moments.
Well I’ll close that I just pray and hope that someday I could be looked back upon by my children as a Proverbs 31 Woman, a Woman of Virtue, a Wife of Noble Character.
Proverbs 31:10-31
10 [c] A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 ”Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
31 Give her the reward she has earned,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
